UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE
20 & 21 APRIL 2024
BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA

Join Nigel Marsh for a two-day NAUI Underwater Photography Course in association with Brisbane Scuba. This course is designed for underwater photographers of all levels of experience, whether you have years of experience and need a few pointers to improve, are a complete novice or simply thinking of buying your first underwater camera. Over the weekend we will delve deep into all aspects of underwater photography and you will have a chance to put into practice what you have learnt when we dive the wonderful subtropical dive sites off Brisbane.

The activities start on Saturday morning when we do the theory session. This lecture will cover all aspects of underwater photography; from types of cameras, underwater camera systems, lenses, equipment maintenance, the golden rules of underwater photography, lighting, exposure, special techniques, composition and even working with dive models.

We then take a break for lunch before getting more hands on in the afternoon session. Students are asked to bring along their underwater camera system to look at lighting, shooting macro, shooting wide-angle, depth-of-field, different lenses and composition. This is the perfect time to ask questions if you are having issues with your camera/setup.

On the Sunday we have an early start, meeting at 6am for our double dive to the incredible dive sites off Brisbane on Brisbane Scuba’s comfortable dive boat Voyager. The plan is to dive the sites off North Stradbroke Island, where you will have the chance to photograph everything from manta rays to nudibranchs and grey nurse sharks to anemonefish. Dive site selection will depend on the weather, but there are other options if the offshore conditions are too rough. Over the two dives you will be able to practice what you have learnt and hopefully see an improvement in your underwater digital images.

At the end of this course you will be awarded your NAUI Underwater Digital Imaging Diver certification and be on the road to enjoying many wonderful adventures with your camera.

Priced at $395, which includes the double dive, but please book quickly as only 6 spaces are available.
